David Archuleta: Cute AND Charitable

We love David Archuleta over here at FemaleFirst, and he just seems to keep getting better and better as he proves he’s not only an awesome singer and the cutest boy in town, but that he also has a generous and caring side.

We to be honest, we’d expect nothing less from the American Idol star, but his generosity really shone through on Tuesday when he popped in to the West Jordan branch of the Cyprus Credit Union to accept a $50,000 donation for his charity, David vs. Goliath, dedicated to fighting Multiple Sclerosis.

Now David is well known for his support of dozens of charities, but he is particularly dedicated to helping find an ‘end’ to MS as he has seen first-hand what it has done to his friends and family.

Archuleta, who will be partying up this summer as he embarks on a tour with Disney’s Demi Lovato, has finally proven that not everyone in this world is selfish, and that some people will always put others’ needs first.

“American Idol” winner Kris Allen and Adam Lambert were in New York today to appear on the “Today” show, nearly a year after David Cook and David Archuleta were on the same show — and we’ve got photos of both!

First, click here for photos of Kris and Adam on the show. My favorite is the one above, of Kris getting mobbed by some of his fans; and one toward the end, of Kris and Allen just hanging out together (they really do like each other, guys).

Then, click here for photos of the two Davids on the “Today” show last year. They’re kind of toward the middle of the gallery; my favorites are the one of the two on top of each other, and the one where Cook‘s got Archuleta in a headlock.

Again, just based on visuals, it’s obvious that the two Davids are closer to each other than Kris and Adam. No biggie, a lot of it has to do with CookArchuleta as a younger brother. almost adopting

Day 2 of My DAVID ARCHULETA experience May 13, 2009

Hello guys this is the continuation of my wonderful and crazy week!

Last May 13, 2009 was the schedule for David’s Meet and Greet @ Mall of Asia and the plan of the Archuleta Philippines team was to go there early in the morning to check out how to get passes. Ate Che and the others went there at 9am (I guess). They basically like opened the mall..lol and so about that time I received a text message from her. She told me that we need to buy the set of green bags and poster in order to get inside the enclosed area for the meet and greet and she said she could reserve our seats. I was so happy!!

I told my dad about it and he agreed to take us there but we have to ride the MRT(train) to avoid the traffic and arrive there early. I was so excited and I couldn’t imagine myself seeing David…I had all kinds of butterflies in my stomach!! So we left at around 10:20am and I only ate a hotdog for breakfast and my sister ate nothing at all.

We arrived at the final station of the MRT and our dad left us there because there were rides going straight to the Mall of Asia..and oh my heck the vehicle was so full and I was not seating comfortably and it was so hot!! Oh gosh!! Anything for david…and then we arrived at the mall and actually it’s only my second time to go to that mall and it’s huuuge!! So we don’t now where to go and then I heard this very familiar voice I love…somebody out there, somebody somewhere…omg!! That’s David!! I thought we were late and then I found out they were just playing the tracks..lol and then I saw this huge huge backdrop of David for the event and Crush was playing!!

I was so excited and then I saw the archies!! I was so high and hyper that time..hahaha I saw a long line of people waiting for the guard to allow them to come inside. And of course, the archietects/archuletaphilippines were first in line…lol

We waited for a while and then the guards let the people go inside but in two’s only so me and my sister entered second…we had the best seats possible..hahaha we talked a lot while waiting and told one another how excited we are. And then we waited …..and waited….and waited…..and waited. And then someone rolled the redcarpet and placed the stairs-like thingy..hahaha

We took pictures of us holding the banners and then reporters took pictures too. It was so embarassing but I’m proud of Archie so it was ok..hahaha and then this representative from Business Mirror newspaper asked us if he could ask a few questions about David. (omg!! I was interviewed!! Haha) his questions were like, “what do you admire about david..etc.”, which were so easy and you don’t even have to think..hahaha

And then suddenly, there were people screaming..and standing on their seats…we were all like, “oh my gosh! Where?!? Where?!? “ and then I heard the guard saying “wala pa, wala pa”(in english: he’s not here yet). So we sat down and waited again. Waiting kills me!! And then krizia and I decided to buy food since she wasn’t able to eat anything yet that day. When we were just waiting for the food, there was chaos..oh my gosh David is here?..i ran outside starbucks and looked for the angel..haha krizia ran too even if she has to leave the drink..haha and then it was again….a false alarm!!

That really pissed me off…hahaha

Then the hosts got up on stage and started the event and we were all like, “whaaaaa!!!!” I just screamed on top of my lungs!! I was taking the video too but I am not paying attention to the digicam because I want to just look at david the whole time..lol

And then people started filling the aisle which supposed to be is where David should pass and so they changed David’s entrance. I asked the guard to please let those people move to another spot because it’s really irritating to feel that we waited for 6 hours there just to be seated in front and then someone who just came a few minutes before the program started blocks your view!! Unfortunately, they can’t do anything about it..

And then the most awaited time of the day came, my reason for living..(haha just kidding) DAVID ARCHULETA!!! He’s real!! He’s like an angel!! Everything about him looks so perfect!!!

He promoted the concert and answered a few questions…he said

“mahal kita?!? MAHAL KITA!” and then the crowd screams like crazy!! And then he responded “SALAMAT PO!”…it was so priceless!!

And also, the host pointed out the fans and when he said “THE ARCHULETA PHILIPPINES!” I was like passing out already while holding the banner and david looked at our group and waved..oh my gosh…his smile was so contagious!!!!

And then it was time for him to go…awww

But I was in tears already that time because that was the first ever time I saw him personally!!

We took pictures and recorded “MAHAL KA NAMIN DAVID FROM ARCHULETA PHILIPPINES!” and then this mall of asia dude approached us and asked us if we could thank mall of asia and so we said “thank you mall of asia from archuletaphilippines!”

And then we went to the hotel and just walked around and sat at the lobby with mothership…and then it was time to go home.

I checked my email and uploaded the video on youtube I know I should be tired but it’s true that if you love what you do, you will never get tired of doing it! I printed huge pictures of david and then prepared my letter for him..it’s like a letter with pictures about how we celebrated his birthday, radio guesting at magic 89.9, etc…i always have my bag of david stuffs in case there’s a chance to have him sign it. I was finished at about 2:30 am and then I went to my bed and tried to sleep but then as much as I want to get a little rest, I just can’t sleep!! As in I was so aware of every move I make…I have to wake up at 5 am for the tv guesting of David on Sis…another big day!! If I will analyze I slept only for about 1-2 hours because I checked my phone one time and it was 3:30am!! Oh my david!!

Day 1 of My DAVID ARCHULETA experience May 12, 2009: I had dinner with David Archuleta’s Bandmates (Mike and Eli)

This is one of the coolest days of my life!!! i’m really really shocked until now…I am so happy to tell you guys about this…ok i think i’m just saying lotsa nonsense here s o i’ll start telling you what happened the whole day.

the archies had everything planned before the most exciting day of our lives..David will be in Manila, May 12, 2009. the flights from london, where david will come from, will either be 8am or 3:30pm so the archietects decided to go there for the 8am flight.

the call time is 6:45am..whoa! unfortunately, my dad didn’t allow me to go there. so i accepted that and then i set my alarm clock to 8am and at about 10am. Pet texted me that the flight is 3:30pm so i could still go if i want to..but still i wasn’t allowed. so i just waited and waited and waited in front of the computer reading tweets and chatting with fans which made me really jealous…and then the news came to me..”David’s plane has officially landed, DAVID ARCHULETA IS HERE IN MANILA!!!”

omg!!! David waved at them and he saw the preparation the fans did!!! i was so thrilled..and then the archietects said we’re on our way to *the hotel* and then i rushed to the bathroom and prepared to meet with them..the only thing i know that time is that i’ll just meet my friends and hope that david somewhat decides to pass by..haha and so i’m with kim and krizia, we went to *the hotel* and i talked a lot with the archies about the airport thingy..we’re all so gaga about it…hahaha

and then we went to the room of archies who checked in the same hotel planning to watch the news of D’s arrival..but…but…all of a sudden karissa was just so high and hysterical because David’s bandmates Mike and Eli texted her and told her that they’ll meet her/us at the lobby and oh my gosh…we’re all so excited!!! then, we waited at the lobby and then Mike and Eli arrived and we took pictures and we gave them the flowers…i am so shy to shake their hands and now i wish i did..hahaha..and then i just heard from someone that we’re gonna have dinner with them but i’m not really sure about that at first so i asked the archies and they said yes..omg!! i’m having the time of my life..hahaha kidding! and then we went to a mall and ate at this restaurant with them…we talked about a lot of David stuff…

i heard them talking about filipinos..

“oh a lot of filipinos speak in english huh?!?” mike said and eli said “yeah i heard it’s the second most used language here”…”oh really?!?” ….”yeah”…..”cool!”

and then our orders were served and they saw my food..hahaha and said “that looks good too!!” hahaha ..(it’s pasta actually)

(i can’t tell everything in detail now because it’s 12:45am already…and i’m squeezing everything from my mind so that i can tell you my wonderful experience but i promise you i’ll edit this if i remember so mething important)

and then i remember a part when we said something about David’s Hannah Montana episode and i said “It’s actually my first time to watch Hannah Montana”..hahaha

so we ate and i told Louise if we could let them sign our CD’s (yeah i’m prepared..i brought my albums..nyahaha) and at first we were like waiting for the right moment..haha and then mike felt like we wanna say something..hahaha..(stupid me..super obvious) and so Louise told him about the signing stuff and they both said “sure! we wouldn’t mind at all.” and i gave them the cover of the album and they signed it…

and i felt like we were about to leave and so i swallowed all the shyness in me and told tita naree if me and my sisters could take a picture with the bandmates and she said yes..i’ll wait for that priceless pic!!

they we’re asking about the Philippines and the nice places they should go and they said they heard about Embassy..karissa said they could go there that night and they decided to change clothes first and meet up at the lobby..

and another part of the story goes…

my parents, brothers, tita emma, tito noel, their son Joaqui and yaya are waiting for us at the lobby of the hotel and as i was approaching..i was still high that time and they were all like, “you haven’t met david yet, they’re just ba ndmates, what’s up with that?” and i was like “you will never understand!! those people are awesome!!!”..and after waiting for a while..i used my uncle’s laptop to tweet..hahaha…after a few minutes i saw Eli again!!! haha waiting at the lobby, listening to the band there…and i told my family about him and my mom was like “go, i’ll take a picture of you two” and i was so shy again..hahahaha but my dad asked me his name and approached him!!! omg!!! he said

“hi Eli!! i’m the father these kids..you had dinner with them a while ago”

“oh yeah, we had a great dinner”

and then we took photos and my dad talked about the concert..and my mom showed the tickets..and Eli was like

“oh may i see?”

mom:”oh sure..those are VIP tickets”

Eli:”wow cool!”

and then Mike came..

and then all of a sudden i remember i brought a concert shirt…i showed them the shirt and they said it was cool!!!!

and then we thanked them and they said they will just sit there and wait for karissa and the girls..hahaha

and the minute they were far enough i was like “bandmates only huh?!?” hahaha and my family were like “they are so kind and approachable”

that’s my big day..i’ll post the pics soon to convince you that this is all true!!!!

sorry for the super blog…i’m tired..i’ll sleep now, tomorrow’s another day..we’ll meet DAVID ARCHULETA!!!!

I am a fangirl at heart. I spazz, I faint, I flail, I die. But after everything, I always look back and remember it’s THE VOICE, THE ARTIST that is David Archuleta that captured me.

Now here is another write up worth the read.

I’m done. That’s it. I’ve decided for David, and I hope he listens to me. “Forget the hype. Forget the fanfare. Lose the distractions. Do what you do, and leave the rest, because what you do is extraordinary.”

I understand that he is a young man. Young. I get that, and I am happy for him. Oh, the special joy of youth. And I understand that music is a business. I understand that shtick and little girls’ tee shirts sell. I understand that he is a charismatic performer capable of mesmerizing 100,000 fans at a time. I understand that Zero Gravity is a great dance tune and that it was my favorite song of the solo tour. Noted, noted, and duly noted. I understand that I prefer the lava bomb to the sunshine.

And I also understand that David Archuleta is a masterful artist. “Do what you do David. And leave the rest.”

TriBeCa’s P.C. Richard & Son Theater is my new favorite venue in the whole world. Not even my living room would have been better….the acoustics are no good…too much furniture…and the lighting is all wrong. But the lighting and acoustics at the PC Richard Theater were surprisingly good. David’s voice sounded rich and full and resonate. The half filled little theater was a pleasure to behold. I was fortunate enough to stand front and center…front, front, center, center. Close enough to tie the crisp white laces of his new converse. The venue was intimate. Absent was the frenetic vibe of the mosh pit born of the solo tour. Here I was moshing without the moshing. No pushing, minimal screaming and no ringing in my ears. I was able to really concentrate on David-the-man. David the man. The artist.

David-the-18-year-old-chit-chatterer was charming and darling. He talked about MS and hibachi, about lettuce and touring and twittering. He seemed relaxed and happy. He said he was happy to be performing before such a small and intimate audience in a small and intimate venue. His smile seemed genuine and the Q & A was delightful. There he stood before us, an ordinary boy talking about ordinary things. He even whipped out his cell phone and twittered like every other ordinary twitterer. But. He also sang. David-the-artist sang.

While David-the-twitterer evoked smiles of amusement on the faces of the audience, most notably the 15 year old girls I was sharing space with, David-the-artist conjured a very different reaction. David-the-artist made these girls shake. And scream. And reach out. Their excitement and joy was a pleasure to witness.

David the artist sat at his piano and sang Angels. A song he has sung countless times and which he said he never tires of singing. Angels and 1000 Miles. Here he was stripped of the distractions, of the nonsense of the business, and got to the business of his art. His voice was controlled and pure and beautiful. As I watched him and the sound of his voice filled me, it seemed he was saying to me, “This is what I do. I am a real live person; an artist; and I sing. We all do something. I sing and this is my gift to you. I hope you like it.”

For all of the gifts that David has to share with us, for me, this is where he belongs. Simple and uncluttered. The simplicity lifts the extraordinary voice. You do not need to embellish a rose. Its exquisite beauty can be most completely appreciated when it does not have to compete for your attention.

As David continues on his artistic journey, I hope he sees in himself what I see in him: the exquisite beauty of a perfect voice, full of the subtleties of human emotion. Forget the hype. Forget the fanfare. Lose the distractions. Do what you do David, and leave the rest. Because what you do is extraordinary.
