Hurrah for A New Twitter Avi!
We may have no single news lately, but we have one momentous event for this week! Finally, David decided to change his twitter avatar! But, not without an epic twitter party, of course!
And so, summing it up, he had these pics to choose from, as per the fans’ suggestion.
Butttt, he ended up with this gorgeous one! Which, btw, he had to crop, and re-crop, so that his PERFECT hair would show. Haha!
So, for posterity’s sake, I had to screencap his tweets with his old & new avi. Y’know, we fans get too sentimental, lol!
I’m guessing that, no matter how gorgeous his new avi is, we will always miss that lovely orange avi of his, haha! So, here ya go!
Idol’s Biggest Charmers
Archuleta should have been #1! Haha!
5. David Archuleta: Here’s another portrait of an Idol charmer: It takes no more than two minutes to walk from the “Idol” stage doors to the parking lot, but for Archuleta, who came in second to Cook on Season 7, that can take more than half an hour. That’s because the well-mannered Archie insists on hugging and catching up with each and every member of the crew, from the producers to wardrobe staffers, security and even the dude at the craft services table — all people with whom he’s on a first-name basis. In truth, not even the burliest stagehand can resist Archie’s dimples, nervous laugh and aw-shucks shrug to anything even slightly out of his comfort zone, and neither can this seasoned “Idol” observer.

New Blog from David: April 23
New blog!
Hey everyone
I am checking in from LA today, and I’ve had some good writing sessions this week already. I worked with Guy Chambers, who wrote Angels with Robbie Williams, and Erika Nuri from The Writing Camp. I also had writing sessions last week with Sam Hollander and Sluggo, who my friend Travis from We The Kings actually told me about because he has worked a lot with them. I also worked with a bunch of other really great writers, who you’ve probably seen me talk about on Twitter. But I actually have another writing session today with the Nexus lol. And I’ll let you guys know how that goes too!
So I was able to go home for a couple of days, and I got to spend time with my family!! Sunday was my cousin’s birthday, and I had all of my mom’s sisters and some of my cousins over visiting from out of town. It was so great getting to have them all there and hanging out with them! A lot of them have birthdays near each other so we just celebrated all of them at once. But family is such a great thing to have, and to have them supporting you and just being there to lift each other up makes a big difference. Having family or friends who are basically family there to do that for you is a huge blessing.
Last night I performed at the BritWeek Gala Event honoring Sir Richard Branson, and was supporting the foundations Save the Children and Virgin Unite. It was a really great night! I was asked to sing Imagine, and then I also sang Prayer of the Children. Nigel Lythgoe had asked me to come sing at the event. It’s funny because I actually ran into him at the Atlanta airport not too long ago, and after I saw him there is when he asked me to come sing. Since he was one of the executive producers on American Idol while I was there, I owe a lot to him for giving me the opportunities I’ve been able to have from the show. He’s a good guy haha. But man, Morgan Freeman was there and I wish I had gotten the chance to meet him! I went to use the restroom and kept getting stopped and talking to people, never really getting time to go over and talk to him. But I think he’s just one of the coolest guys.
In LA there are a lot of signs around saying “April is Earthquake Preparedness Month.” I think it’s really important to remind people about how we need to think about what we would do in an emergency like an earthquake, or any other kind of situation like that. I think it’d be great if you have a family to go through what everyone would do in an emergency, and come up with a plan on how to deal with things. Things like food storage and emergency kits can be so useful in an emergency. I probably sound weird right now lol, but I think with everything happening it’s important to get people thinking about it and being prepared for possible events to happen. Keeping a water supply, non-perishable foods, flashlights, things like that. Just to keep in mind I guess. There are websites you can find out more info on. Here are a couple:
I don’t want to sound like I’m paranoid or anything lol, but you never know what could happen. I’m going to try and get back home for the weekend and just go through things with my family and make a plan too. I remember in school they were talking about how Utah is due for a pretty big earthquake too, and with everything going on right now you never know what could happen.
Well sorry for going off on that, but I’m going to get back into this writing session I’ll tweet later and try to get another blog up next week. Adios!
Song for the day: I Am Not A Robot -- Marina and the Diamonds
This is probably my favorite song right now lol. Just really quirky

‘American Idol’ Star David Archuleta Rings in BritWeek 2010
Last night we attended the kick-off of BritWeek 2010 in Beverly Hills, an annual celebration of the accomplishments of Brits in the entertainment industry. Of course, the biggest thing on everyone’s mind was the volcanic ash, and there were quite a few ashy jokes being passed around. But eventually folks carried on with the festivities, which included a special singing appearance by David Archuleta, who did a beautiful rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” as well as an acapella version of “Prayer for the Children,” both of which we managed to record snippets.*
One of the major sponsors of BritWeek is Virgin Atlantic and thus Sir Richard Branson was trotted out on stage for a Frost/Nixon style interview, done with actor Michael Sheen who plays David Frost in the movie (he is also appearing this season on “30 Rock”). Frost…er, Sheen interviewed Branson on a wide range of topics from his start as an entrepreneur, to his thoughts on capitalism and even on plans for Virgin Galactic.
But the event wasn’t entirely about patting chaps and mates on the back for their work in California…

Poll: The Best Idol Performances Of All Time!
Thanks Kristian for the heads up! haha
The Best ‘American Idol’ Performances Of All Time Poll (Fan-Nominated Edition)
On Tuesday (April 20), “American Idol” contestant Crystal Bowersox tore into a tearful version of “People Get Ready” as part of “Inspirational Week.” In many ways, it was one of the best performances ever in the history of the show, as she not only performed it well (though there were a few missed notes), but it also showed raw emotion and poise in the face of stories that she has been trying to bail on the show. Her natural charisma survived the tears, and she came out looking like the inevitable champion.
In a poll taken yesterday, MTV News nominated a dozen performances as the greatest of all time. In the end, Bowersox took home the gold. However, there was a great deal of debate over the songs we nominated (apparently nobody remembers Trenyce — which is a shame, really). That is why we are presenting a second poll, made up entirely of nominees that came from superfans across the Internet. Sometimes we got the right performer but the wrong song (there are a lot of David Cook devotees, but they seem to prefer “Always Be My Baby” over “Billie Jean”), and sometimes there were just important moments we missed entirely — especially David Archuleta’s take on John Lennon’s “Imagine” and any number of Adam Lambert performances (though we decided to focus on “Mad World” despite the demands from several people that Lambert could fill the entire top 10).
So vote on your new favorite below. Since she won the first poll, we left Bowersox in to compete. Can she fend off the will of the fans? Vote below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
