So, I guess it’s TRUE that ALNTOY will have a radio mix, and probably a new release on iTunes, come January. Yay!
New CD art/cover for the win!
Before you listen, here’s Jive’s (idf) listing of “changes” in this new version. Check which ones you notice yourself.
They’ve added reverb to his voice
They’ve cleaned up a lot of the busy-ness in the final choruses…brought out the electric guitar and did away with all the hyper synth stuff
They really brought out or added a high-hat cymbal or ride cymbal that plays a driving sixteenth-note rhythm throughout.
They added an echo to David’s last line…before it was just the guitar riff that echoed.
Overall I think it’s a much cleaner mix.
More guitar-driven and less synthy.

Ok its not DRASTICALLY different. The acoustic guitar has been brought forward and there is a bit more bass definition and they have done away with some of the synth noise and made the drums sound more organic. It generally sounds a tad cleaner. Sounds like a tweaked production rather than a drastic re-mix.

The radio mix is the same version, just a little big bigger and hi-fi sounding…. in general just sounds better It’s the same version that appears on the ALTNOY video on itunes.

tee-jay tell ur guy friends that the taste in music doesn’t denote whether ur a guy-guy. “males listen to rock music only” saying is lame. tell them if they’re sure that they are guys then they shouldnt be afraid to appreciate REAL music. and just for the record (if ever ur friends say that i’m just saying all that i posted above coz i’m a fan) i listen to different genres of music(yes even rock) and different artists but no one ever caught my attention. i just liked the songs but never was a fan of the artist. i thought i could never like every song that an artist sings(thought there would be one song or another that wouldn’t dig). so i never bought any cds. lol. i had a change of heart when i first saw david because in my opinion i’ve never heard anyone sing with that much heart, passion, and not to mention talent as david does. no one is even half as good as him. lol. so now i’m a arch-angel. i post articles for two fansites. i have his physical cd and his itunes deluxe album. and i keep playing his songs everyday. haha. yes i’m a fan.

I just listened to the radio mix then the album version. Personally, I thnk they wanted to give the radio mix a more rocked out version because the electric guitar is more audible and dominate the background all throughout the song. The album version is more subdued, less guitar dominance, and I sort of miss the synthetic violins in the background towards the end of the song. It’s actually what I liked about ALTNOY in the first place. But that’s just me.
All the same, ALTNOY is great in whatever version will be played because what’s important is that David’s voice is fabulous in both. ALTNOY FTW!
