May 16, 2009. D DAY. A year after.

Most of us, if not all, probably had the best moment in our lives on May 16, 2009. The day when David Archuleta went on the stage in MOA grounds to celebrate his music, with his fans–us. Who would have thought he’ll be coming to Manila that soon? We definitely know that he’ll be coming here but not that soon, right? I guess, our prayers were answered in 2009. DAVID. ARCHULETA. LIVE. IN. MANILA. BEST DAY EVER.

Good things come to those who wait. INDEED.

I’m not gonna go and ramble here, ramble there ’cause this recap would definitely be a novel in no time. I’m gonna try and make this recap short but sweet. The operative word is TRY. So, please, bear with all the words. Haha. It’s a FUN moment!

Anyhow, MOA grounds were packed by fans. GAZILLION! OK, so not GAZILLION, but still a HUGE crowd–around 40,000 or more SCREAMING fans. If there’s one thing that’s constant throughout the week, the SCREAMS would win hands down. Thousand and thousands of screaming fans–young or old–screamed for David Archuleta. (See? SCREAM is a constant word here) Lights on, not that special. Then, it went dark. MAGIC. SCREAMS. Music, guitar, bass, drums. MAGICAL SCREAMS once again. David comes out. Waving. Smiling. Starts singing. Best couple of minutes ever. WOW. One word: AMAZING. Wait! It’s more that amazing–this is probably the best description. He is beyond amazing. These songs he sang–Touch My Hand, A Little Too Not Over You, Barriers, You Can, My Hands, My Hands, Your Eyes Don’t Lie, To Be With You, Don’t Let Go, Waiting for Yesterday, Stand By Me/Beautiful Girls, A Thousand Miles, Angels, Zero Gravity and Crush–he sang brilliantly! I must say, he’s definitely a great LIVE performer. [emphasis on live] Just WOW. Seems like May 16 was just yesterday, eh? Re-living the moment. Words can’t even describe and express how it felt during the concert. The band was awesome. The crowd was great and loud. David is perfection.

Experience The Concert Once Again!

March 14, 2009 was the longest ARCHUDAY ever, for the Pinoy Archies as David had his media round-up -- From the studios of Sis to Eat Bulaga to Magic 89.9. Of course, there was no complaining, only way too much excitement as the buzz and hype kept building and building. By this time, the Pinoy Archies were trapped in between wanting to see David perform in the concert already and not wanting the concert to happen yet, for fear of the archuweek to end.

Day 3 was filled with archuamazing memories -- David’s wanting to ride a jeepney, calling the Barong a shirt, and calling Juan, “this little guy” lol -- and of course his unending flashing of his mega-watt SMILLLLLEEEE that melted everyone in his way, lol.

Every moment was getting bittersweet, and of course, when you see that archusmile, archuglow and archustare… the more you want time to just stop. And since the moment did pass, let us take a look back at what an amazingly looooong (but totally worth every second!) day it was.

Day 2 of the Archuweek!

May 13, 2009 was the announced “meet & greet” at the SM Moa Atrium, and so as soon as the gates opened, the Pinoy Archies came rushing in like mad and purchased their “green” bags as passes to the event.

The tension as the floors filled up with people grew more and more, and the excitement was getting unbearable. THIS WOULD BE THE FIRST TIME THE FILIPINO NATION WOULD SEE DAVID ARCHULETA -- his smile, his eyes,  his laugh -- IN ALL HIS GLOWING GLORY, OR GLORIOUS GLOW (either works).

As JR4DA said,

I was tearing up at this point cos of the adoration being shown David. Was so happy for him. Was ecstatic that he will know for himself how much love my country holds for him!

David’s Arrival!

Everyone was so startled when David and his band landed on the airport via Qatar airwyas at 3:30pm on May 12, 2009. It was a hot sunny day when fans flocked into the airport’s road just to greet David a warm & hot Filipino welcome! (video credits to AP’s eugene).

Mayhem at the airport. Only David Archuleta can cause this much commotion — which according to some press people -- was even greater than the welcome The Pacman got! David was mobbed left & right that the customary 15-minute stay at the VIP Lounge to Immigration and out to the Arrival Area stretched into almost an hour Great, great work Archuleta Philippines for warmly welcoming David -- Mabuhay indeed!  (footage provided by Naree, video credits to JR4DA)

Remembering Day 1 of the Archuweek!

JackRyan4DA best described what was going through the mind of every Pinoy Archie that time!

He is now walking the same soil and pavement that I have walked on! For the 1st time, has gone through the same infamous EDSA traffic that I go through daily; Is breathing the same polluted air am breathing; Is enduring -- but maybe not ☺ -- the same hot weather that makes SPF more relevant than ever.

Yet TODAY will be forever etched in my memory as one of those perfect days.

Media Coverage!

Translation: DA arrived past 3pm this afternoon. Soon as he went out of the arrival area of NAIA T1, he was mobbed by the media, even by the airport personnel and immigration people. People just kept taking pictures of/with the singer; afterwhich, he proceeded to the VIP lounge to take care of the necessary documents. Cook arrived earlier this afternoon. Both are here for their back to back concert. Archuleta is also set to guest on SIS, this Thursday.

Oh my freakin’ gosh!!!!!!! I can’t believe the past week I had. The past week we all had. It was crazy. By far the craziest, emotional, and the most fun week I’ve ever had. I’m sure it’s that way for you guys too. Anyway here are a few highlights of my stay there. Recaps in my own words

1. Met and talked with the archies when we arrived at the hotel. We were exchanging stories like old friends even though it was the first time we ever saw each other in person.

2. Met my bunk mates. Vain girls. I miss you guys

3. Rushed out of our room in a panic because David just tweeted that he was already at the hotel. Karissa lost her slippers and went out using Naree’s shoes. Jen started going out in the wrong way. And Shine went out without putting on her shoes yet. Good thing the hallways were carpeted. Lol. We made quite a ruckus that someone opened their door to see what was going on. Haha. Sorry

4. No David at the lobby but we got to talk to Jeff for a while. He’s really nice

5. Concert day was uber awesome!!!!! We met more archies there! Starbucks was the meeting place. Veer even came all the way from Australia just to watch Archie.

6. I love the screaming for archie!!!! It was waaaaaay loud. I screamed my lungs out too. Got scolded by the security coz I was standing on my chair (how the heck was I supposed to see? Lol. Everyone was standing and I’m just 5 ft tall, so yeah you get the picture. Haha)

7. Met Jeff again on the lobby after the concert and got to hand out the cebu delicacies I brought for them. We also had the weirdest conversation. It went something like this
Jeff: You went all the way to cebu to get these?
Me: No, I’m from cebu. I brought these
Jeff: So you went all the way there to get these?
Me: Huh? But I really am from cebu
Jen: Yeah she is
Jeff: I believe you (said with an earnest face)
Me: (trying hard not to laugh because we were going around in circles) Ok
Jeff: Thank you for these
Me: You’re welcome

8. Mike liked my necklace. He commented on it twice in just a span of a few minutes.
Mike: That’s a really cool necklace
Me: Thanks

Mike: What’s that on it? We walk by….
Me: We walk by faith not by sight
Mike: Cool
Me: Thanks
Someone: Bigay mo na (give it to him)

If it was David who commented on the necklace I would have given it right away. Too bad it wasn’t. Haha

9. Lounged in the lobby feeling depressed because of the emotional roller coaster ride. Then someone says “David’s here”. We then rushed forward and I started crying so hard that David was blurry when he passed by. I didn’t even get a picture or a video. I just went on crying. Kia got to hold David’s hand though. Lucky girl. Haha

10. Gave the gifts for David from the Archies to Eli coz we couldn’t hand it to him when he passed by coz basically I forgot all about it (archustupor. Lol) and it was all so fast. 

11. Met Ray and John who are really nice too.

12. Kendra is gorgeous btw.

13. Lounged again in the lobby waiting for David to go out of the hotel to leave for the airport. Someone then says that we might get a chance to meet David if we behave and that we did. We all formed a line, waited for a few minutes. I believe it was already 7 pm and I was so nervous because Shine and I still had a plane to catch at 8.10. But I knew I would never leave that line until I saw David

14. David came out and my heart was beating so fast. When it was my turn, I handed him the fan he could sign on and he took it on the part where my hand was. Sooooooo he was HOLDING MY FREAKIN’ HAND when he was signing the fan. My mind shut down and I didn’t even say hi to him. I just couldn’t stop staring. DAVID ARCHULETA TOUCHED MY HAND. *melts*

15. Met Jeff again and he said “Bye cebu girl” and hugged me. Awwww. He remembered. 

16. Jumped up and down hugging everybody and crying with them. It was beautiful. 

17. Flew home still unbelieving that I had the most wonderful week ever. I hope David would come back again for another concert. Miss him already. *sniff*
