May 16, 2009. D DAY. A year after.

Most of us, if not all, probably had the best moment in our lives on May 16, 2009. The day when David Archuleta went on the stage in MOA grounds to celebrate his music, with his fans–us. Who would have thought he’ll be coming to Manila that soon? We definitely know that he’ll be coming here but not that soon, right? I guess, our prayers were answered in 2009. DAVID. ARCHULETA. LIVE. IN. MANILA. BEST DAY EVER.

Good things come to those who wait. INDEED.

I’m not gonna go and ramble here, ramble there ’cause this recap would definitely be a novel in no time. I’m gonna try and make this recap short but sweet. The operative word is TRY. So, please, bear with all the words. Haha. It’s a FUN moment!

Anyhow, MOA grounds were packed by fans. GAZILLION! OK, so not GAZILLION, but still a HUGE crowd–around 40,000 or more SCREAMING fans. If there’s one thing that’s constant throughout the week, the SCREAMS would win hands down. Thousand and thousands of screaming fans–young or old–screamed for David Archuleta. (See? SCREAM is a constant word here) Lights on, not that special. Then, it went dark. MAGIC. SCREAMS. Music, guitar, bass, drums. MAGICAL SCREAMS once again. David comes out. Waving. Smiling. Starts singing. Best couple of minutes ever. WOW. One word: AMAZING. Wait! It’s more that amazing–this is probably the best description. He is beyond amazing. These songs he sang–Touch My Hand, A Little Too Not Over You, Barriers, You Can, My Hands, My Hands, Your Eyes Don’t Lie, To Be With You, Don’t Let Go, Waiting for Yesterday, Stand By Me/Beautiful Girls, A Thousand Miles, Angels, Zero Gravity and Crush–he sang brilliantly! I must say, he’s definitely a great LIVE performer. [emphasis on live] Just WOW. Seems like May 16 was just yesterday, eh? Re-living the moment. Words can’t even describe and express how it felt during the concert. The band was awesome. The crowd was great and loud. David is perfection.

Experience The Concert Once Again!

Hello everyone!

I got an email requesting that AP “make the posts about the May 16 event MORE exciting”, so forgive me if the previous AP’s posts bored you. lol! No hard feelings! The Filipino Archies ARE very very excited about this event, it’s just that we’re REALLY REALLY REALLY hoping the organizers would give equal billing to the both Davids especially since this event was advertised as a Back to Back concert. So, here’s to equal picture dimensions and font sizes! *cheers*

Also, we’re reallyyyyyy crossing our fingers and crying our heads off for a meet and greet, which we have no idea whom to coordinate with as our contacts have been tossing and passing us from one to the other like a volleyball. Let’s not lose hope, though. We know our David loves his fans, and anything can still happen. But whether or not a meet or greet happens, please know David, that hearing you sing to us live will already mean the galaxy to us! We, love you no matter what!

Yup, nothing is stopping us from getting all pumped and stoked and excited to see David! So, here’s a spam of pictures of the SM Complex (where the Concert Grounds is) to excite you, and make you proud to  be Filipino, and host this EPIC back to back event!

Disclaimer: I have been to the Moa Complex enough to be familiar with it, but mostly only in the stores, skating rink and the food shops at San Miguel by the Bay. But I DID my research and asked around a few people while I was there. So, although my info MAY not be accurate, it’s pretty reliable, lol!

About MOA

The ‘SM Mall of Asia’ (also known as MOA or MoA) is a shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings, the largest mall developer and owner in the Philippines. SM Mall of Asia is the 2nd largest shopping mallPhilippines after SM City North EDSA. It has a land area of 42 hectares and has a gross floor area of an approximate 410,000 m². The SM Mall of Asia mall grounds consists of four buildings interconnected by walkways; the Main Mall, the Entertainment Mall, and the North and South Carpark Buildings.

The Main Mall includes shopping and dining establishments and the food court. The Entertainment Mall is a two-story complex, a majority of which is open-air, facing Manila Bay.

The mall’s 5,000 parking spaces are divided across two, six-story parking buildings conveniently designated the North and South parking buildings. The South Parking building houses the mall’s official SM Department Store, while the mall’s supermarket, the SM Hypermarket is located within the North Parking building.

One of the mall’s somewhat-unique features is a 20-seater tram traveling around the mall grounds to ferry shoppers around.

Concierge desks are located in the Main Mall and the Entertainment Mall.

I’m not sure if the Concert Grounds is different from the Open Grounds exactly, but this was the E-heads’ Concert Venue (with an attendance of around 70k)

I’ve been here. I’ve stepped on this ground, lol, and I can’t see how they’d fit the proposed 80k and up here though. Unless we’re ALL standing. The “open grounds” is the vacant lot/parking lot behind SMX.

I was thinking the May 16 event might be held at the same spot the E-heads had their final set gig (shots above).
