He’s Grown As An Artist
For all my Archuleta lovers out there
I’m going to forgive his par comeback performance of his third single, “Touch my hand.” After all, he has been ill for the past week. It was still better than most.
Seeing our little Archie back on the Idol stage brought back some memories, but it was different somehow. His confidence and stage presence skyrocketed him past all his performances from a year ago – combined. My how he has grown as an artist. I’ve known it ever since I saw him on the American Idol Live Tour last summer, but I suspect millions more found it out just this week as he bounced around the stage with the huge smile on his face and more swagger than he had ever shown before.
There will always be a gigantic place in my musical soul for David Archuleta, no matter how successful he is in the eyes of the mainstream pop music industry. His voice is undeniable, and his aura just makes you want to smile and root for him. Part of my, shall we say, obsession last season was watching interview after interview and reading article after article about that kid. I almost feel like I know him personally. He is a genuinely good guy who avoids confrontation, appreciates every opportunity that comes his way and likes to create music with meaning. I have so much respect for him and look up to him in so many ways, despite him being six whole years younger than I am. Plus, he’s a fantastic role model for younger kids.
My experience at the Idol tour proved to me just how much of an effect he has on people. I attended the Kansas City concert – which is the hometown of David Cook. Of course, 99 percent of the crowd were clad in DC attire and looking at me strangely in my “No one sings it betta than David Archuleta” T-shirt. (Yes, you read that correctly.) But by the second song in Archie’s set, he had the Cook crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. I mean, EVERYONE was standing and screaming. I was so proud as an Archie fan and as a Kansas City native for them to show such respect for the former nemesis. And it’s not an easy audience to please; we love our hometown heroes.
And the Archuleta fanatics are even more cordial. I think they strive to live up to his standard. It’s like being part of an elite group, and only members “get” it. (Yup, I “get” it, too.) But I could go on and on. How about the rest of the show?
The Awesomeness That Was TMH.
Something ‘Bout Your Beautiful Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaceee….
OMG. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE TMH IN FREAKIN’ HIGH DEF TONIGHT. I LOVE MY TV. LOL. Sorry for the caps. I’m just really happy and excited and spazzing and fangirly. I COULD BARELY KEEP MY MIND WITH WORK earlier today. lol
I’m quoting direct from snarkys since I’m still so dead with all the archubouncing and archustage presence. He worked that stage, alright! Gaaaaaaaaah. I’m so proud of him.

DAVID RETURNS
David sings his new single called ‘Touch My Hand’ and made me remember why I was so in love with him last season. This guy has such a powerful voice, such a commanding stage presence and is very handsome–excuse me while I fangirl squeal! (SQUEE!) OK. Awesome performance by him! He announces he is touring with Demi Lovato this year.
TV Fodder
But before we could get to the final elimination, an old friend from last season stopped by to serenade us. It was time for Season 7′s Runner-Up, David Archuleta, as he sang his newest single “Touch My Hand.” This was my first time hearing this song (though I’d heard his other two singles on the radio and really enjoyed them). His lower register seemed a little off, but otherwise he sounded pretty good. The most surprising thing about Archie was his performance. I guess somewhere between losing the crown last year, then going on “Idol’s” tour and then touring solo, he learned to be a little less awkward and little more animated. His performance was really good!! Plus, is it just me, or does Mr. Smiley seem like the most humble teen ever?

Winning isn’t everything: Last season’s runner-up David Archuleta returned to the stage to sing “Touch My Hand” before heading out to the United Kingdom for a concert tour. He gave both Anoop and Allison a pep talk, saying that you don’t have to win the show to get opportunities in the business. “Just know that it’s not over even after this,” he said. Lil and Anoop both are praying he’s right.

Even Ryan Seacrest introduced him by his official title Wednesday night: “The lovable David Archuleta.”
Little David – or Little Archie – runner up to Cookie Monster David Cook in season seven, performed “Touch My Hand” on the “American Idol” double elimination results show.
Yes, it was pre-recorded. And I’m not sure “Touch My Hand” is a “Crush.” But there’s so much pure joy in this kid’s face it makes me grin. Love the skinny tie. Love the bouncing around. There really is no one on the planet cuter than David A. He does seem more at ease now that the pressure is off.
As he reminded us, he’s heading to the UK tomorrow to be on tour with McFly. And this summer he’s touring with Demi Lovato.
He performed toward the end of the show, when Lil Rounds was already gone (see related story on that anticlimactic departure) and Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta were on the stools.
He hugged Allison and shook Noop’s hands. Ryan pointed out that David was never in the bottom two until the final two (tactful as ever, Ryan).
David to Anoop and Allison: “I just want to say you both have awesome voices. There are so many opportunities after this. … Just know that it’s not over even after this. I’ve been having such a great time. There are a lot of people who didn’t have to go all the way to really live their dream.”

…and a performance by former Idol runner-up David Archuleta. He sang a slightly rocky pop song, “Touch My Hand,” then told Anoop and Allison, “It’s amazing to see where you can go after this.
The Boston Globe
It’s nice to see that David Archuleta is a sweet and supremely-positive guy, and that everyone’s nice and gracious in the face of elimination.
USA Today
It’s so nice to hear David Archuleta sing something with a backbeat on this show. Touch My Hand is prime teen-pop fodder, giving David an excuse to reach into his tender falsetto range and also to lean over the edge of the stage and brush his hands with the clapping girls standing there.
David tells Ryan that he’ll be leaving for the United Kingdom tomorrow to tour with McFly (and, of course, there’s the Demi Lovato tour this summer).
David tells Anoop and Allison that they have awesome voices and that many opportunities will come their way, even if they’re eliminated tonight.

The results show also featured musical performances by last year’s runner-up David Archuleta, who looked vastly happier and less afraid now that he wasn’t appearing as part of the competition; and disco icons Freda Payne, Thelma Houston and KC of KC and the Sunshine Band.
Magic’s BEST Mistake!
Many people are now wondering why Magic 89.9 played Touch My Hand (TMH) instead of A Little Too Not Over You (ALTNOY). As we all know, ALTNOY is the second single from ARCHIE’s album. Things seem confusing for other listeners.
Well, according to our research, Magic dared to play TMH as a treat for ARCHIE’s fans. They included it in the playlist 2 days afer Crush slipped off their Magic 30 (Nov.10). We also learned that they read the news about TMH being released as 2nd single so they decided to play it immediately, so they would be the FIRST in Philippine radio..(talking about TREND SETTING, huh?)
Due to change of plans however, Jive and Archie’s management replaced TMH and selected ALTNOY instead. Magic learned it but it was too late to pull out the track. The song was warmly received by people and is already enjoying massive airplay and request. In fact, it entered Magic 30 at no.18 – only 5 days after it was first aired. DJ CJ (Carpool host) even cited that he got 24 text requests in 30 minutes! So how will they pull out a track that’s beginning to be a hit?
It was indeed an honest mistake for Magic as they “rushed” to play Archie’s new track. It is however, an error that they should not regret! Though TMH will no longer be released as the official second single, it still became a radio hit because of Magic. In fact it was probably their “BEST ERROR” so far.
We forgive them for that!
The only questions now are: When will they play ALTNOY? If ever they play it, will they pull out TMH? or will they play them both? hmm.. that remains to be answered!
