Howdy Guys!

I know that some of you have wanted to have a specific twitter trend for the Philippines. I have to admit that just like some of you, I envy Indonesia and Singapore whenever they put anything related to David Archuleta on their own twitter trend. That same reason gave me the idea of, why not twit twitter directly and ask if they can add “The Philippines” as one of their listed trending locations.

Just today, I saw twitters twit on my time line saying that they just added some new trending location on their trend list, and I’m so excited to share with you that The Philippines was one of them. At last, like Indonesia and Singapore we can now put David Archuleta on our own trend, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days in a year. Exaggerated as it may seems, but possible, correct?  So, to start off,  let’s trend #WeSupportArchie. Now na!

Ever wonder why the Philippines was added as one of Twitter’s trending location?

According to Twitter, locations are not manually selected, but rather displayed dynamically based on tweet volume. They also added that, the tweets from a specific geographical area must be enough to create a quality list, before a specific area can be added on their trending list. Having granted to have a specific trend for the Philippines, it is also possible that some might abuse them without knowing it. For the benefit of all concerned, the following behaviors and others like them could cause your account to be filtered from search or even suspended:

• Adding one or more topic/hashtag to an unrelated Tweet in an attempt to gain attention in search.
• Repeatedly Tweeting the same topic/hashtag without adding value to the conversation in an attempt to get the topic trending/trending higher.
• Tweeting about each trending topic in turn in order to drive traffic to your profile, especially when mixed with advertising.
• Listing the trending topics in combination with a request to be followed.
• Tweeting about a trending topic and posting a misleading link to something unrelated.

The most important thing is to make sure your Tweets are genuine thoughts or impressions and not attempts to insert yourself into a trend. Everyone who clicks on the trending topics should be able to see real people’s ideas and links to further relevant information.

NOTE: It is important that your default trend location is “Philippines” otherwise your tweet/hashtagged topic will not be counted under the Philippines.

ANNOUNCEMENT: CONTEST IS TEMPORARILY ON HOLD.

Notwithstanding how much it has been a joy to reward you – the fans – for all your hardwork, this contest’s primary aim was to bump David’s songs on the radio charts. And thanks to you guys, the first few weeks had an overwhelming response. Lately, however, due to some circumstances out of our control, (e.g. trashing/nullifying/non-counting of our precious votes), the contest does not seem to be serving its purpose anymore. After much deliberation, the Admins (and Council of Elders) have decided to put it on HOLD -indefinitely (or until our votes and feelings as listeners, as a loyal fanbase, as consumers will seem to matter again). It breaks our heart to bring you this news, but please bear with us.

Important:
~Counting of votes (for the contest) will stop tonight – Oct.6, 2010.
~Votes sent in from Monday-Wednesday will still be counted, but will be carried over to the week when the contest will resume.
~We encourage you to direct and focus all your voting efforts (for Elevator & SBL) to RT and Mellow for now.
